Chat via Copilot

Via Microsoft 365 Copilot you use Power BI Agent as a source in your own Copilot environment. You need Microsoft 365 Copilot and a connected connector. See Connect Copilot if you haven't done this yet.

Start an analysis

1. Open Microsoft 365 Copilot Chat.
2. Type your question in plain language, e.g. "Show the liquidity ratio for the past 12 months."
3. Copilot decides when to use Power BI Agent. Feel free to mention "Power BI Agent" or the name of your dataset in your question, so Copilot picks the right source faster.

Is Power BI Agent turned off under Sources? Turn the source on first via the gear icon > Settings > Sources.

Anonymization

In this mode, fields set to pseudonymize in Masking are anonymized instead. Copilot only sees the anonymized value and cannot use it for analysis. The anonymized values are also shown in the chat itself. Use portal mode if you want to see the real values in the chat.

Datasets

You only see the datasets the owner has assigned to you. Missing a dataset? Ask the owner for access.
