Analyses & Insights

Discover how Power BI Agent provides automatic ratios, KPIs, and insights based on established standards.

Automatic ratios and KPIs

Power BI Agent doesn't just return raw numbers — it automatically calculates relevant ratios and KPIs based on your data. Examples include:

  • Current ratio — How well can your organization meet its short-term obligations?
  • Quick ratio — Liquidity without inventory.
  • Profit margins — Gross margin, operating margin, and net margin.
  • Revenue growth — Compared to previous periods.

These ratios are calculated automatically when you ask a related question.

RGS standards

Power BI Agent's analyses are aligned with the Referentie Grootboekschema (RGS), the Dutch standard chart of accounts. This means:

  • Financial terms and categories are recognized according to RGS.
  • Ratios are calculated following established formulas.
  • Results are consistent and comparable with industry standards.

Skills

Power BI Agent uses "skills" — analysis modules tailored to specific domains. Each skill contains:

  • The right DAX formulas for accurate calculations.
  • Context about what the numbers mean.
  • Norms and benchmarks where applicable.

When you ask a question, Power BI Agent automatically selects and executes the relevant skills and presents the results in clear, business-friendly language.

Default skills

Power BI Agent includes default skills for commonly used analyses, such as liquidity, solvency, profitability, and revenue analysis. These skills become automatically available when a recognized data model (such as RGS) is detected when adding a dataset.

Custom skills

Depending on your subscription, organization owners can also create custom skills. This allows you to add analyses that are specific to your organization or industry.

  1. Go to Organization settings > Skills.
  2. Click Add skill.
  3. Define the skill with a name, domain, category, and the corresponding DAX formulas.
  4. Assign the skill to one or more datasets via Organization settings > Datasets.

Custom skills work the same way as default skills — they are automatically selected when a user asks a related question.
