Chat via portal

Via the portal, you chat directly from your browser — no additional installation required. The organization owner has set up a Claude API key for this.

Start an analysis

1. Open the portal at portal.powerbiagent.nl.
2. Click Chat in the left menu.
3. Select the dataset you want to query.
4. Type your question in plain language, e.g. "What is the revenue this year compared to last year?"

Pseudonymization

In portal mode, fields set to pseudonymize are sent to Claude as a pseudonym. In the chat you see the real values yourself, but Claude analyzes based on the pseudonym. See Masking for explanation.

Datasets

You only see the datasets the owner has assigned to you. Missing a dataset? Ask the owner for access.

Chat from within a Power BI report

Don't want to switch between your report and the portal? With the Chat visual you embed the same chat as in the portal directly into a Power BI report. It's not a separate chat mode — it's the same chat as in the portal, with the same Claude API key, datasets, and pseudonymization, just in a different place.

Add the Chat visual to a report:

1. Download the Chat visual (.pbiviz file) from the Power BI menu option in the portal.
2. Import the file into Power BI (option 'import a visual from a file').
3. Drag the visual from the Visualizations pane onto your report canvas.

Use the Chat visual:

• Sign in within the visual with your Power BI Agent account.
• Choose the dataset you want to chat with (this can be a different dataset than the report's).
• Ask your question (see how to ask good questions).
