Ask questions about your Power BI numbers in plain language, just as you would ask a colleague. You get an immediate answer from your own data, with an explanation, tables and charts. Notice something? Simply ask a follow-up question. That takes you from an overview to the cause.
This short video shows how it works: you pick a dataset, type your question and the chat chooses the clearest form for the answer.
Chat where you already work
Portal and Power BI report
Chat in the browser, or directly in your Power BI report with the Chat visual.
Claude
As a connector in Claude Desktop or Claude.ai, with your own Claude subscription.
Microsoft 365 Copilot
As a source in Copilot Chat, within your familiar Microsoft 365 environment.
Reliable and secure
Fixed definitions
Built-in skills calculate ratios and KPIs using tested formulas, aligned with RGS and the templates from PowerBIConnector.nl. With your own skills, you add business-specific context, such as internal standards or custom definitions.
Sensitive data protected
For each field, you decide what the AI sees: pseudonymized (a fixed code instead of the actual value), anonymized, or fully hidden. This happens before the data reaches the AI model, and your Power BI data remains unchanged.
What can you ask?
- “What was revenue last quarter?”
- “How is our cash position?”
- “Which customers are behind compared to last year?”
Not sure where to start? Then ask: “What questions can I ask about this dataset?”
Frequently asked questions
Do I need my own AI subscription?
Not in the portal and the Chat visual: the organisation sets up one Claude API key for all users. In Claude, each user uses their own Claude subscription (Pro, Max, Team or Enterprise). In Microsoft 365 Copilot Chat you do not need a separate AI subscription.
How do I use Power BI Agent in Microsoft 365 Copilot?
A Microsoft 365 administrator adds the connector once for the organisation. After that, everyone can choose Power BI Agent as a source in Copilot Chat.
How do I install the Chat visual?
You download the visual (a .pbiviz file) in the portal and import it into your Power BI report. Then you sign in with your own account, also with two-factor authentication.
Which dataset does the Chat visual use?
You choose. It can be a different dataset from the one used by the report the visual is in.
How does pseudonymisation work in the chat?
A pseudonymised field gets a fixed pseudonym. The AI calculates and analyses with it, but never sees the real value. In the portal and the Chat visual, you do see the real values in the answer.
Which skills are built in?
Among others liquidity and working capital, profit margins, revenue growth, forecast and budget, and fiscal skills for Dutch corporate income tax, work-related costs and the distribution test. With a Plus subscription you add your own skills for definitions specific to your organisation or industry.
